Questions
Does my frame work?
Look it up in the table above. Only a TapMora Spectra 6 frame has been tested with Pic2Ink. Every other entry uses the profile and protocol DITHR has for it, and has not been tried with Pic2Ink. A frame that is not in the table may still be recognised by Auto-detect, which is experimental.
Why does the frame look different from the preview?
The preview shows exactly the pixels and inks that are sent. If the picture on the frame is shifted, cut off at the edges or garbled, the bezel may hide some pixels (measure it), or the frame may need a different profile. Send feedback with App logs ticked, and the log shows each NFC step.
Why “sent, not confirmed”?
The app sent the image but did not receive the frame’s report that its refresh had finished. Look at the frame: the picture may still have arrived. Nothing is retried automatically, so send again if it did not.
What is Measure bezel for?
Many frames hide a few edge pixels under the bezel, and units differ. Measure bezel sends an edge ruler, reads from one photo how many pixels each edge hides, and after you check the numbers saves them for that frame. Pictures are then placed in the part you can see.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Preparing a picture and sending it over NFC need no connection. Only feedback you send uses the internet; if the phone is offline, it waits on the phone and is sent later.
What leaves the phone?
Your picture goes only to the frame you tap, over NFC. Nothing is uploaded unless you send feedback, and its screenshot, ticked by default, shows your picture if it is on screen; untick it to leave it out. Details are on the privacy page.
Is it free?
Yes, Pic2Ink is free. It is in a closed test and not yet on Google Play.
Is Pic2Ink made by the frame’s maker?
No. Pic2Ink is made by SciNTech and based on DITHR by redphx (MIT licence). Brand names belong to their owners; Pic2Ink is not affiliated with or endorsed by any frame maker.
