Pic2Ink for Android (com.scintech.pic2ink) by SciNTech. Last updated 2026-10-30.
In short. Pic2Ink prepares and sends pictures on your phone. Nothing is
uploaded unless you send feedback. There are no accounts, no ads and no analytics.
- Your pictures go only to the frame you tap, over NFC.
- Feedback is sent only when you press Send, and you choose what goes with it.
- The screenshot option is ticked by default and shows what is on your screen, including your
picture if it is on screen. Untick it to leave it out.
What stays on the phone
- Pictures you choose are decoded in memory and sent only to the frame you tap, over NFC. A
picture shared to Pic2Ink from another app is copied into the app's private cache, where the
next shared picture replaces it.
- Photos taken to measure a bezel are read in memory; the camera's temporary file is deleted.
- Settings (mode, device, rotation, fit and dithering) and bezel measurements are stored in the
app's own storage.
- A frame is recognised by a salted hash of its NFC identifier. The identifier itself is never
stored or sent.
- The diagnostics log is kept in memory. It leaves the phone only if you copy it, save it as a
file, or tick App logs when you send feedback.
- Pictures and logs you export are saved to Documents/Pic2Ink on your phone.
Feedback you choose to send
Feedback is sent only when you press Send in the feedback dialog. A report always contains what
you typed, the app version, your phone's model, Android version and language, and an anonymous
install identifier (a random number created by the app). Android's own app-specific identifier
(Android ID) and an anonymous sign-in identifier are added so that reports from one phone can be
grouped. Under Include app data you choose what else goes with it:
- Picture details: the chosen picture's size in pixels and bytes and its
format, how it was prepared for the frame, and which screen you were on. Never the picture
itself or its name.
- App logs: the last part of the diagnostics log (NFC steps and command
lengths), with file paths and web addresses removed. Never the frame's identifier.
- Screenshot: a capture of the screen as it was when you opened the dialog,
shown as a small picture before you send. It shows exactly what was on your screen, including
your picture if it is on screen. Screenshot is ticked by default, like the other three; untick
it to leave the screenshot out.
- Current settings: Easy or Advanced mode, the device profile, and the fit and
dithering settings.
Text you type and the log are checked for file paths and web addresses, which are replaced
before sending. Do not type personal details you do not want to send.
Where reports are stored
Reports are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore for the text, Cloud Storage for a
screenshot), reached through Firebase Anonymous Authentication and App Check. If the phone is
offline, the report waits in the app's private storage and is sent later; an unsent report is
dropped after 14 days, and a waiting screenshot after 30 days.
Reports are sent encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Google processes them for SciNTech as a service
provider.
Reports are kept until they have been read and dealt with, and at most 400 days. They are read
only by SciNTech to fix problems and improve the app. They are not sold, not shared with anyone
else and not used for advertising.
Identifiers
No account is needed. Each report carries three identifiers of the installation: the random
install identifier the app creates, Android ID (an identifier Android gives each app on each
phone), and the anonymous sign-in identifier Firebase creates. They are used only to group
reports from the same phone. None of them is an advertising identifier or tied to your name or
email.
Advertising and analytics
Pic2Ink includes no advertising, usage-analytics or crash-analytics software. Google Play may
separately process store-level data under Google's own privacy policy.
Permissions
- NFC: to send a picture to the frame you tap.
- Internet: only to send feedback you submit.
- Storage (Android 12 and older only): to save exported pictures and logs to
Documents/Pic2Ink.
Pic2Ink opens only the picture you choose in Android's photo picker or share to it; it does not
browse or read the rest of your photo library.
Children
Pic2Ink is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children.
Removing your data
Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes everything it stored
on the phone, including unsent feedback. To have reports you sent deleted, write to the contact
address on the app's store listing and quote the report id (Diagnostics, in Advanced mode, shows
it as "feedback: report …") or the date you sent it and your phone's model.
The contact address is the developer email in the "App support" section of Pic2Ink's Google
Play listing. The reports, and any screenshot attached to them, are deleted within 30 days of
your request.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date, and the app's
Privacy screen is updated with the next app version. Questions about privacy go to the same
developer contact address on the Google Play listing.
